INTERNAL REGULATION OF LIBRARY
ART. 1 - DEFINITION AND PURPOSE
The Library of the Euro-Mediterranean Institute of Science and Technology (IEME.ST) has a substantial library heritage, which makes it available to citizens, for cultural enrichment, for the dissemination of information and for the implementation of the right at the studio.
In light of this, the Institute aims to promote books, publish magazines, catalogs, proceedings relating to conferences, seminars, studies and research.
The heritage is made up of volumes that cover the following fields: art, biology, medicine, fiction, poetry, psychology, science, history, philosophy, religion, Italian and foreign literature, encyclopedias, scientific journals, history, hobbies and valuable material such as books ancient and rare editions.
ART. 2 - REGISTERED OFFICE
The library is located in the I.E.ME.S.T. headquarters, located in Via Michele Miraglia, 20 - 90139 Palermo - Tel. 091333913
ART. 3 - TIME
The library observes the following opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12 noon. Wednesday from 15.30 to 18.00.
Short partial closures may be arranged for reviews, maintenance, and other extraordinary reasons.
ART. 4 - ADMISSION
Readers are required to sign the attendance register before entering the Library premises.
Users who enter the library must deposit bags and any other objects in the boxes provided for which the introduction into the Library has not been expressly authorized by the management.
The same applies to visitors to the exhibitions when they set up.
They must also comply with the rules governing the use of public places, strictly avoiding damaging the patrimony of the institution, writing or pointing, even in pencil, on books or documents of the Library, to disturb the activity of study and work, to smoke.
No one can enter the library for simple pastime or for reasons unrelated to institutional purposes. Users are required to observe the common rules of civil coexistence in behavior and clothing.
ART. 5 - CONSULTATION
Users are required to sign the attendance log.
Users can consult the catalogs that are available to them.
The Hall of ancient books and rare editions is reserved room and to access it is essential to be authorized upon delivery of an identity document.
Professors, researchers, doctoral students and other qualified scholars may be authorized; university students may also be authorized for the period necessary for their research, with a letter of introduction from their teacher and those scholars who can document in writing the need to use such material.
ART. 6 - INFORMATION
The bibliographic information and orientation service offers the user the advice for the identification and location of documents, guiding it in the catalog research and directing it towards the Library sector that can best meet its needs.
The Service also offers users the possibility to perform assisted searches on the I.E.ME.S.T.
Users can propose purchases, reports and suggestions to enrich the book heritage
ART. 7 - REPRODUCTIONS
It is possible to obtain reproduction at your own expense and for personal use of study of the works owned by the Library, in compliance with the current legislation on copyright.
At the time of the request, the user is required to fill in the appropriate form.
In any case, books and documents prior to 1900 or volumes published after this date may not be photocopied, the state of which is precarious and may be damaged.
It is forbidden to photograph books with mobile phones or other digital devices
ART. 8 - PROMOTION SERVICE AND VALORISATION OF THE HERITAGE
Guided tours of the library can be arranged by appointment arranged with the
Director. The enhancement of the book heritage takes place through conferences, exhibitions, educational activities and information.
ART. 9 - BEHAVIOR AND SANCTIONS
Users must comply with the provisions of the law, in particular the current legislation on the use of public places and on false declarations. They must also comply with the provisions of this Regulation.
Anyone who contravenes the aforementioned regulations, without prejudice to any civil or criminal liability, may be temporarily or definitively excluded from the Library; in particular those who are guilty of subtraction, mutilation or damage of any nature of the Institute's patrimony will be excluded from the Library, referred to the Judicial Authority and reported to the superior ministerial authority. It can also be excluded who signs or writes, even in pencil, on books and documents and who disturbs in any way the activity of study and work. The obligation to compensate the damage remains in all the above cases.
Please also note that smoking is not allowed in the Library premises. For everything that is not included in this regulation, reference is made to the regulation on Public Public Libraries D.P.R. 5 July 1995 (S.O. Official Gazette No. 118 of 5.10.1995).
